You may want to argue that what I am about to say is a huge sweeping statement. However, I believe it to be true. Every single person on the planet has, at one time or another, had a dream. It goes without saying (though for the point of this article, I'll say it) that each persons dream is different. If you're more of a feet firmly planted on the ground kind of person, you might prefer to call it a goal. For some of us, our goals are a daily pursuit. A conscious thought process, that is ever present and that we build upon. But for a lot of us, our dreams have been pushed aside in favour of what we perceive to be our reality. Occasionally we allow our dreams to flit around the outskirts of our mind (imagination), giving us pause for thought and allowing us a moment of reflection, to think about what might have been.
But here's the thing...when the shit hits the fan, as it has on planet Earth of recent, I can't help but wonder, if this is exactly the right time to dust off the old spark plugs and give our dream-bone a bit of a jump start? Better still, what if we didn't just allow ourselves to dream (or perhaps dig up new ones). What if we focused actual energy into creating goals. What if we put as much energy infact, into visualising what we wanted, as we do into keeping our shit together whilst in lock down. What if we permitted our dreams, to take over our every day, day-dreaming moments, allowing us the opportunity to put power into our thought process.
What if we made our goals bigger, brighter, bolder. How would they look to us then? Once we start to see our dreams on a regular basis, what's to stop us making those dreams a reality? The more we see them, the closer we are to achieving them.
I've come to realise many things over the last 6 weeks of lock down. One of them is that in the blink of an eye, the world can change. Opportunities can be taken away, and everything can be turned on its head. How you choose to use your lock down time, is personal to you and is your decision, For me, its been an evolutionary process involving much emotion and a bit of soul searching (fired up by a glass/bottle/night of drinking). However what I have discovered is that when all this shizzle is over, I want to be closer to realising my dreams than I was before it started. Life is short. We could easily maintain our dream distance as just out of reach, hazy memories of what could have been, but I want more. I want to hold my dreams and goals close to my heart, tight in my hand and I want them to be as real as what is happening in the world right now! In short, I want good to triumph by not letting the bad hold me back...how about you?
